Lexus LF-Z Electrified in Silver Spring, MD
The Lexus LF-Z Electrified was initially scheduled to be available in 2025, but it looks like Lexus is moving up production to as early as late summer or early fall 2022. Lexus is expected to release 10 battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid models by 2025 to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 regarding logistics, production, recycling, and driving. While little has been confirmed about the LF-Z, drivers everywhere speculate what this vehicle will look like based on the concept car. Here are the top features believed to be a part of the Lexus LF-Z Electrified.
LF-Z Electrified Features
Lexus hasn't mentioned whether there will be any trim levels available for the Lexus LF-Z Electrified, but the prototype was called out as one of the best seen in recent years. Drivers say the LF-Z looks to be as roomy as an SUV with the distinctive bold profile of a hatchback. A blue stripe bisects the glass roof that has electrochromic tinting and features a floating blackout style. You'll also notice the upturned kink on the rear doors providing eye-catching appeal. The horizontal lighting stripe, first seen on the UX crossover, makes its way to the LF-Z Electrified. This futuristic vehicle will feature pop-out door handles, side mirror cameras, oversized deep-dish wheels, and badges illuminating each corner. The spindle grille has an overlay of black translucent panels, and the taillight is full-width, featuring the name Lexus laid out on top.
An electric battery will power the Lexus LF-Z. While Lexus isn't forthcoming on the exact source of this battery power, the prototype was powered by a 90-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, so it's safe to assume the LF-Z will utilize it. Lexus has shared that the LF-Z will utilize Direct4, which allows the two motors to vary the power delivered to each of the four wheels depending on needs. It will also use drive-by-wire technology, allowing the driver to steer the vehicle easily.
Lexus is aware of how much drivers everywhere love performance-enhancing features, so the LF-Z Electrified is sure to have features that will improve the overall driving experience. Self-driving sensors known as LTM, or Lexus Teammate, were spotted on the prototype. This LTM is a next-generation Level 3+ system that enables the communication between cars and humans.
When examining the prototype's interior, it was likened to the cockpit of a jet fighter. The minimalist one-piece front seat is aggressive-looking, while the back seat features a deeply scalloped design. You get a yoke-style steering wheel to provide that feeling of sitting in the cockpit of a fighter plane. There will be accent lighting on the floor to go with the play/stop pedals. A next-generation infotainment system is expected to be part of the triple-screen layout.
When looking at future cars, safety features rarely come up unless they are new to the scene. Lexus is well-known for offering the latest safety and driver-assistance features, and the LF-Z Electrified will be no exception. This new electric-powered vehicle should be expected to have standard and optional features to keep you and your passengers safe, along with an advanced airbag system.
